Towards Better Democracy

Good words, well written, better the world. Good literature betters the world immeasurably.

once upon a time

once upon a time
a time, a time
there was time
to sow the field
to harvest the crop
to store them in the barn
for when winter came

once upon a time
a time, a time
there was time
to gather and sing
under a pendent star filled sky
around the fire

and in that time
that time, that time
we woke at dawn
and homed at dusk
to eat what we had produced
and made with our own hands

once upon a time
a time long gone
when we could hunt
game plentiful
roast upon the fire
chip flints for arrowheads
make bows so taut
that the strings sang

once upon a time
we had time, had time
but that time has now
long gone
oh now so long ago

now, now, there is no time
no time to think, to breath
to take the time
that life needs
to live, to love
there is no time
now.
