Towards Better Democracy

Good words, well written, better the world. Good literature betters the world immeasurably.

Fell to the Cutting Room Floor

Fell to the cutting room floor
Those outtakes
How we’d value them now

The Super 8 tapes
Stored in a garage somewhere
Where are they now

The past’s behind us?
How dare we make that mistake.
We carry it with us
It’s part of us now

We’re so modern
We’ve kept up to date
What a mistake

We’re part of our past
Can’t leave it behind
Nor should we try

Keep it alive, oh yes, keep it alive
It’s not nostalgia
It’s part of who w’ are

Yes we were young once
Surely that’s true
But the spirit within us
Is as young now as ever it was

Yes, yes we’re alive
The past, not dead to us,
Is alive, lives, in us now.
