Towards Better Democracy

Good words, well written, better the world. Good literature betters the world immeasurably.

Vestiges of Depression Hang

Vestiges of depression hang
From the trees like mist in the early morning
Before the sun comes up
Hanging their boughs over the still, still pond
Weep

Sun up, though, clears all this
And cogent thoughts begin to emerge
The mind locked from sleep frees

A smile
At the follies of us all
Who we think supreme
I no more than any other
Frail
Yet driven by a will to live

And so each day begins
To wrest from it its fullest
Juice
To extract from life
To live

And to share with others
That fruit.
