When I lived in South Africa, in Johannesburg, I sang with the University of the Witwatersrand Choir. The quotation is from the KJV but I am familiar with the
proverbs because a composer who taught composition at the university of the time, Carl Reinecke who composed a canon in voice lines for an a cappella choir – specifically for Wits Choir –  the Getting of Wisdom, The quotation is therefore, in this context, the first line composition. In the United States, this musical form is known as voice crossing and involves four part harmony: soprano, alto, tenor, bass. The choir still exists

The beauty of the work haunts me still. And I can still hear it.
